THE GREAT MIDDLEMARCH MYSTERY GIVING CIRCLE
George Eliot’s Middlemarch is considered one of the greatest British novels of all time. Published 150 years ago, it still has a resonance with modern life today through themes of migration, a major epidemic, globalisation, the damage of misinformation and, of course, love.
The incredible story inspired us to create an immersive production, The Great Middlemarch Mystery. We are so grateful to all those who supported this production. Without their help, we wouldn’t have been able to connect with local community groups across Coventry or to share the great work of George Eliot with audiences in a new and exciting way.

“Vitally, by making spectators forge their own links between sites, stories, factions and families, The Great Middlemarch Mystery goes to the core of Eliot’s project: to show life not as singular destiny but part of an infinitely complicated web.”
“This was the best experience possible for me, giving me confidence [...], it gave me memories that I will treasure, and hopefully friendship with some excellent actors We came, we learnt, we grew as a family. I loved the chance to do this. I was fully involved and would love to do more of this with other stories. Thank you for giving me memories that I will cherish forever, love you all.”
